Old Red Box

Strange how an
Old red box by the
Side of the road
Reminds me of you

I don’t know you
Despite the way we
Touched each other
Regardless of the
Whispers we shared

You will be forever
An enigma
A spook
Haunting my dreams
Catching the glance
From the corner of
My eye
Like a dusty old crate
Thrown from a truck

You are the flash
A shift of light at the
Edge of the trees
The scent in the
Seat beside me

Not there but
Eternally present
My body remembers you
For all time
Craving your laugh
Desiring your smile

Half hidden in the weeds
At the side of road
Lost and broken
As my heart

Hooray!
